Nebraska doesn't offer an official indoor track season, but racing opportunities have dramatically increased the past few years. These are 'open' meets where the athletes compete unattached (not linked to your high school), so each athlete is responsible for registering.
Most of these are very low-key meets and are excellent way sneak in a mid-winter workout or work on racing strategy. If you're aware of other races, shoot us an e-mail at jayslagle@hotmail.com and we'll add it.

Saturday, December 13: Washburn University, Topeka, KS (1st of 3 meets), 165 miles from Omaha and Lincoln. Youth, high school and masters athlete; no collegiate athletes allowed. 200-meter banked track. Three meets on December 13, January 17 and February 21. Events for 2025/26: 60, 60H, 200, 400, 800, mile, 3000, LJ, TJ, HJ, PV, SP, WT. Â Â Distance fields may be a bit limited but the newish facility is exceptional.
Sunday, December 14: Concordia University, Seward, NE (1st of 4 meets). 200-meter track, limited entries, 6 field events and 6 running events up to 1600 meters for 6th to 12th grade. Fast-moving meet from 1:30 to 4:00. Registration opens soon.
Sunday, December 14:Â Â HyVee Arena, Kansas City for youth and high school athletes (ages 7-18, 1st of 3 events). 351-meter track, no field events. The 2025/2026 meet dates are updated and the current season's registration and information links are active as of 11/27/25. The 2025/2026 schedule reflects youth races from 60 meters to the mile, while the high school schedule also has the 3000. In contrast to other meets where youth events are interspersed with high school events, this meet holds the youth events in the morning and the high school events in the afternoon. The 2025 high school fields weren't as deep or the marks as impressive as what we've seen at Concordia, College of St. Mary and NWMSU, but it does offer you a change of scenery.
Sunday, January 4:Â Â HyVee Arena, Kansas City for youth and high school athletes (ages 7-18, 2nd of 3 events). 351-meter track, no field events. Saturday, January 10:Â Â Northwest Missouri State, Maryville, MO (1st of 4 meets), 115 miles from Omaha. Awesome 300-meter track. Youth and high school meet, and presumably post-high school. Their 2021-2023 meets drew competition from as far as Colorado and Arkansas, although there may be less competition with more events on the schedule. The NWMSU website has been updated for 2026 dates: they will be held on 1/10, 1/18, 2/15 and 2/21. However, the registration and information links were not updated as of 11/27/25. When updated, the website below will show the registration links.
Saturday, January 17: Washburn University, Topeka, KS (2nd of 3 meets), 165 miles from Omaha and Lincoln.
Saturday, January 17: The Chicago Misfits meet attracts considerable high-level talent for athletes looking to test themselves out of state. In 2025 the meet effectively had three levels of competition: Community, Fast and Elite (Hoka in 2025 but now Tracksmith). It's a great event if you happen to be headed to Chicago that weekend, but prepare to have your ego checked.
Sunday, January 18: College of St. Mary, Omaha (2nd of 3 meets). High school athletes only. Newer facility with 200-meter track that will certainly bolster CSM's young track program. Running events range from 60 to 1600 meters. Well run meet with professional timing. There is a max limit of 24 athletes in races and 16 in field events, but CSM wants to see kids competing and they haven't enforced the limits in prior years. Top finishers from the first two meets have registration priority for third meet on 2/15, but you can still register for 2/15 if you miss the first two meets. Field events include pole vault, shot put, weight throw, high jump, long jump and triple jump. Dates are set for 2026 but the website has not been updated as of 11/27/25. Here are the details from the 2025 meets:
Sunday, January 25: Concordia University, Seward, NE (2nd of 4 meets). 200-meter track, limited entries, 6 field events and 6 running events up to 1600 meters for 6th to 12th grade. Fast-moving meet from 1:30 to 4:00. Registration opens soon.

Fast-moving meet from 1:30 to 4:00. Registration opens soon. There are no additional performance or prior meet requirements to register for this meet, but this 4th and final meet will include medals for the top performers based on results at all four meets on 12/14, 1/25 and 2/1. Few athletes compete in all four meets and many will only compete in one.

Thursday, February 19 through Saturday, February 21:Â Â Simplot Games in Pocatello, ID. A highly-regarded meet that Patrick Grosserode of Trackville calls the highest level indoor meet outside of Nationals. More information at https://simplotgames.com/for-athletes-coaches/. Registration opens January 1. One interesting quirk is that there are prelims and finals for the 800, 1600 and 3200. You can review the 2024 results at https://simplotgames.com/records-results/Â to decide whether it's a good fit for you.
