The Omaha Sports Commission hosted the inaugural collegiate Platte River Rumble cross country race last October at Mahoney State Park. It's a beautiful course that will be even better in future years. OSC aims for a bigger splash in 2023 with the addition of a high school and middle school meet to be held on Friday, September 8. The course, platted by an Omaha engineering firm, is specific to cross country, and the OSC aims for the meet to be a appetizer for the huge UNK meet held in late September. As of March 13th, 27 high schools have committed to the meet, with additional schools expected to be added by the confirmation deadlines of April 1 (large schools) and May 1 (small schools). The event is co-hosted by the UNO and Creighton cross country programs.
