Contributor: The Nerd

Chase County Invite

Who would have guessed that Imperial Country Club, on a random 92-degree Thursday afternoon, would be a smackdown of 10 ranked runners from Class C and D? The girls race was particularly stacked, with the following top 7:

  1. Lindee Henning, Ogallala, Class C #2, 19:51

  2. Peyton Paxton, Mulllen freshman extraordinaire, Class D #4, 20:37

  3. Kate Stienke, NP St. Pats, D #8, 21:14

  4. Callie Coble, Mullen, D #12, 21:16

  5. Lauren Henning, Ogallala, C #15, 21:44

  6. Jordan Jablonski, Chase County, unranked, 21:48

  7. Braelyn Gifford, NP St. Pats, D #13, 22:17

For the boys, three ranked runners faced off:

  1. Trevor Kuncl, Mullen, Class D #5, 17:03

  2. Jarrett Miles, NP St. Pats, D #2, 17:15

  3. Colton Pouk, Perkins County, D #10, 18:08

  4. Damin Luedke, Paxton, unranked, 18:21

Freshman Story Rasby of Sutherland, ranked #11 in Class C, did not run at the meet and appears to be injured. Here's hoping she bounces back.

Thanks to Chris Kuncl of Mullen for pointing me to the results.

Seriously folks, who else in the State besides the Nerd staff knows the studs all the way from Class A through D?

Milford Invite

Milford's #10 ranked Elliott Reitz 17:34 and watch-list Kaleb Eickhoff 17:36 are the top 2; Milford wins with 4 of top 6 placers. Class C #3 Lily Kenning of Milford wins in 20:09, Class D #7 Emily Frey of Palmyra 2nd in 21:18. Minden wins.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Invite

Kairece Morris 23:04 and Alexis Bodlak 23:14 of Pender take top two girls spots. Class D #6 Grant Lander of Homer wins in 17:45, Dyaami Berridge of Winnebago 2nd in 18:06.

Wahoo Invite

Class B #7 Chloe Schrick of Blair wins in 20:35, Olivia Lawrence of Platteview 2nd in in 20:57. Blair wins the team title over Platteview 22-37. Class B #12 AJ Raszler of Platteview wins in 17:00, #15 Dawson Fricke of Blair in 17:12. By my math, Blair ties Mount Michael in a 5-team scorer but Mt. Michael wins 31-33 with four scoring.

Fremont Invite

Class A #1 Elli Dahl of Fremont goes step for step with Jaci Sievers for 4900 meters before pulling away in the last 100 to win in 18:44; Sievers was second in 18:47. Last week Sievers beat Class A #4 Claire White of Westside by three seconds at the Thorell Invite, so it's a tight bunch at the top of Class A.

Class A #1 Gabe Hinrichs of Elkhorn South broke from a pack of six at about 2500 meters to win in a state-leading 15:26 on one of the fastest courses in Nebraska. The funny thing is that he didn't look like he was working that hard. Class A #2 Carter Waters of Fremont finished 2nd in 15:48 after running solo for the last half of the race. Fremont easily won both team titles.

Pius Invite:

Class B #9 Ellie Thomas of Norris wins in 20:19, edging teammate and Class B #5 Kendall Zavala in 20:25. Class B #4 Britt Prince of Elkhorn North takes 3rd in 20:44. Norris wins the girls title with 33 points, Gretna second with 51. Class A #13 Colby Erdkamp of Gretna wins the boys title in 16:52 while teammate and #15 Evan Liewer is 2nd in 17:00. Gretna has the top four finishers and #6 to easily win the title.

Fairbury Invite:

Class C #4 Sadye Daniell of Lincoln Christian wins in 21:11, Class D #9 Payton Gerken of McCool Junction was 2nd in 21:21. Class C #5 Carter Hohlen of LC wins in 18:06, teammate Jackson Feauto 2nd in 18:28. LC wins both titles.

Arlington Invite

Softball-turned-runner Class C #5 Keeli Green of Arlington wins her 2nd race and her home meet in 19:23, while #6 Olivia Malousek of DC West was 1:26 back in 20:49. DC West tops Arlo 21 to 32 for the title. Class C #14 Parker Gaston of DC West wins the boys race in 17:16 while unranked Ely Olberding of Fort Calhoun beats two ranked teammates for 2nd in 17:24. Fort Calhoun wins the boys title over Arlo 26 to 31.
